Station House was formerly the Station Master's house for Wensley Station situated right by the side of the Wensleydale Railway deep in the Yorkshire Dales.

The house sits in a generous plot. Our client spotted the property when it was in a state of considerable disrepair with the aim of turning into a luxury holiday cottage. Our brief was to strip out and reconfigure the interior of the main house and demolish the single storey extension to the side, and replace it with something that whilst sympathetic to the rest of this historic building, would also have a contemporary edge and flood the house with light.

In the existing house, internal walls were moved, and the staircase relocated and replaced. The new extension was finished in local stone to match the existing house. With a glass apex and bifold doors, it houses the impressive kitchen diner.

Externally, extensive landscaping has provided a large patio area, driveway and garden.

Three new ensuite bedrooms were created, along with a snug, sitting area and cloakroom. The bathrooms were finished to boutique hotel standard.

The stunning kitchen diner, which is housed in the new extension is flooded with light during the day.

And really comes to life at night.

The cottage can be booked via Gorgeous Cottages.
