In our last post, we highlighted our recent work at The Tower House, covering the kitchen extension and restoration of the tower. The project also incorporated building a swim spa, and linking this with the main house.

When the owners bought the house, there was an existing single storey building next to the tower.

We demolished this to make way for the swim spa extension, overcoming significant structural challenges when digging the foundations and supporting the tower structure.

The extension was designed around a glulam frame, with a GRP roof, and features beautiful larch cladding. Bifold doors were installed on two sides of the pool room.

The extension houses a swim spa, sauna, shower and gym equipment. The floor was finished in generous travertine tiles to continue the natural feel of the room.

A plinth was built over the pool, which houses some small LED spotlights as well as a concealed LED strip which gives a gentle halo of light around the pool.

The pool room blends seamlessly into the garden, and in summer the doors can be opened right out.

The kitchen, tower and swim spa are linked by a covered walkway, featuring larch undermount. Natural stone paving completes the look.

The larch looks beautiful against the stone and glass and nestles well into the garden setting. Lighting was added to the garden to further enhance the design.
